Submissions are open

Deadline is October 25, 2019.

BAD DOG wants poetry that you’re afraid to share anywhere else—visceral, intelligent, and without restraint. If it has been rejected, we want it. If your poetry workshop said it’s no good, we want it. If you think it will never see the light of a day, we want it. Send us the work that will make us laugh, fart, scream, burp, cry, squirm, and rage with jealously because we never thought to write it. We accept work from anyone but we do have a focus on Canadian poetry.

  • Only previously unpublished work (personal blogs are fine, but please remove the work prior to submitting)

  • Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but let us know if anything found a home elsewhere

  • Up to 3 poems of any length or style

  • Start each poem on its own page

  • Send all poems in one .doc or .docx file

  • Include a third-person bio (50 words max.)

Send all submissions via email with the subject line “POETRY”

BAD DOG can’t pay contributors right now. We’re working on it.

If your work is accepted, we only ask you wait two weeks after publication to do whatever you want with the work.

We are not able to accommodate special text formatting on the mobile version right now. We’re working on it.
